Emotional Intelligence As Mediator Between Insecure Attachment, Social Support And Subjective Well-Being Among Women With Infertility

Abstract

Purpose: The present study was to find the role of emotional intelligence as mediator between insecure attachment, social support and three components of subjective well-being i.e., depression, satisfaction with life and happiness in women with primary infertility in Pakistan. Method: The sample consisted of 231 women with infertility recruited from different government and private hospitals and clinics of major cities of Pakistan through purposive sampling. The research was approved from the Advanced Selection and Research Board of GC University, Lahore. Written permission from the authors of all the questionnaires used in this study were sought: Meditational analysis was carried out using AMOS 21.0 through Structural Equation Modeling. Emotional intelligence partially mediated the relationship between insecure attachment and depression , whereas, fully mediated the relationship between insecure attachment, happiness and satisfaction with life. Emotional intelligence also partially mediated the relationship between social support, depression, happiness and satisfaction with life. Conclusion: The study highlights the significant role of emotional intelligence as mediator between insecure attachment, social support and subjective well-being in the life of women with primary infertility in Pakistan.
